Miragem - what slowing down made visible
Share

Some things can't be forced into existence.
In April I was forced to stop.
A health issue that asked for rest, for slow walks, for less. Less movement, less creating, less of everything I usually fill my days with.
I didn't like it.
But I went out anyway. Slowly, a little more each day. And somewhere along those walks, without intending to, I started absorbing what was around me. The light on the water. The way the reeds move. Wildflowers I'd never noticed before. The colour of the sky at a specific hour I'd always been too busy to see.
I wasn't collecting inspiration. I was just present. For the first time in a while.
When I finally sat down to work, Miragem came out in a few days. As if it had already been made while I was walking. As if the stillness had done the creating for me.
That's what Miragem is.
It's not about the sea though it begins there. It's about what happens when you slow down enough to actually see. The shapes, the light, the quiet details that only appear when you stop rushing past them.
Two drops. Two moods. One collection built entirely from presence.
Sol de Sal and Slow Tide come first. After Dusk follows.
More soon.
